If you are a Canadian Veteran, you may be eligible for coverage of your medical cannabis through Medavie Blue Cross. At Hero Dispatch, we handle the heavy lifting of the registration and billing process for you. In order to be eligible for Blue Cross coverage, you need to be a Veteran with an Awarded Condition and apply to get a Medical Document issued from a healthcare practitioner.

Follow the steps below to get started.

Step 1: Get your Medical Document

a) If you are currently registered with another Licensed Producer:

i. Complete our online Registration Form.

ii. Use our Transfer Tool or ask your existing provider to fax your Medical Document to: 1-833-392-1180.

OR

b) If you do not have a medical cannabis provider yet:

i. Simply complete our Application Form.

A health care practitioner will use the information you provide and fax us a Medical Document if you are eligible.

Step 2: Blue Cross Application

Once we receive the Medical Document from the healthcare practitioner or your existing provider our team will automatically prepare and submit your Blue Cross coverage application on your behalf.

Step 3: Approval & Welcome Call

Medavie Blue Cross will review the application and fax us a confirmation once you are approved.

  • Notification: You will receive an automated email the moment the approval hits our system.
  • Welcome Call: A member of our team will call you to walk you through the ordering process and ensure you know how to utilize your coverage for your first order.

Need Medication Sooner? - Our Bridge Order Policy

Blue Cross approvals can sometimes take a 1-2 weeks to process. We offer Bridge Orders to ensure you don't have to wait for your medication while the paperwork clears.

How to request a Bridge Order:

  1. Locate your VAC Decision Letter (the document that lists your service-connected awarded conditions).
  2. Email a copy of this letter to [email protected].
  3. Our team will review your letter and, if eligible, enable a bridge order so you can start shopping immediately.
